Annoying Noises and How to Eliminate Them Forever

Most homeowners have no choice but get used to outside noises like trains, airplanes and the little sounds in your house that could drive you crazy. The good news is that these noises can be eliminated easily and you don’t have to bear them.

1. Rattling doors

Doors usually rattle when there is a lot of space between the door’s end and the door. The solution is to remove or lessen the gap. To do this, you can bang the end’s flush using a hammer and a piece of wood. Add some finish nails or brads to the end if that door is slammed regularly.

2. Water heater gurgling

If you hear some gurgling or popping coming from a water furnace, there could be too much sediment buildup inside the tank. The sound results from steam bubbles that percolate through the muck. In a gas water furnace, the deposits create hot patches that might damage the boiler and result in premature failure. In an electric heater, deposit makes the lower heating element to fail. So, flushing enables extended furnace life and lower energy bills.

Begin by shutting the heater off. Shut off the water supply and allow the water to cool. Connect a hose to the drain valve at the bottom of the boiler. Dip the other end of the hose inside a bucket and then open the draw off tap. Continue draining until the water discharges. In case the boiler empties before the water clears, open the valve and let more water inside the tank to rinse it further. After you finish cleaning up, close the drain tap and let the tank to fill up then put the furnace on.

3. Banging cupboard doors

There are two kinds of people in a home, those who slam cabinet doors and those who shut them. If you live with a banger, plan on installing cupboard dampeners. The piston in the device slows the door down before it hits the cupboard.
